Emily “Freddie” Fredrickson is trombonist, composer, arranger, and arts advocate from Clearwater, Florida. She is an artist inspired to create and support honest endeavors by forging powerful, unlikely connections using her diverse background and widely varied skillset. She is a featured solo trombonist of the first national tour and current Broadway sub of the Tony and Grammy award-winning Broadway musical, Hadestown. She plays in several other Broadway pits, and works as an orchestrator in the musical theater scene. She has arranged and orchestrated over 200 works for big band and orchestra and has over 10 years of experience with music nonprofit organizations in programming and education.
Freddie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Studies from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans, graduating summa cum laude from both institutions. She currently serves as the director for the Dee Dee Bridgewater Big Band and directs the Jazz Workshop Ensemble for the High School Jazz Academy at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She is also brass faculty at the Calhoun School. She has worked as an arranger and performer with Tony and Grammy award-winners, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Aaron Neville, CeeLo Green, Allen Toussaint, Kurt Elling, Ledisi, Eric Benét, Kermit Ruffins and many others. She was featured in French Cosmopolitan as a rising star in music, and is becoming a regular fixture on the New York and New Orleans music scenes.
