I played in two musicals & recorded the Haydn Trumpet Concerto in High School and knew early on, that a career in music was all I wanted.” Dave was planning on becoming a classical musician, but his plans changed when he heard about a new Jazz program at Humber College, (where he eventually taught private lessons for many years).
R & B bands dominated his 20’s as well as a very interesting stint as the band leader of the Garden Bros. Circus. Studio work with the likes of Alan Jackson, Holly Cole, Memo Acevedo, and Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass kept him busy for most of the 90’s.
Dave has been fortunate to have played behind many great musicians & singers such as Paul Anka, Shania Twain, Michael Buble, Tito Puente, John Pizzarelli, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Lou Rawls, Diana Krall, Barry Manilow, Mel Torme, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Gino Vannelli, Maynard Ferguson, Manhattan Transfer, Dave Brubeck, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, The Temptations & many more.
“I’ve really enjoyed doing theatre work for the last three decades, Les Miserables, Crazy For You, Fosse, Chicago, West Side Story are only a few of the productions that I’ve been fortunate to have played on.” Most recently Dave played on “Ain’t Too Proud” currently on Broadway.
In 2006 Dave released a solo CD, “The Hang”. It was nominated for a Smooth Jazz award. He is working on another solo project and hopes to release it in the near future.
"The trumpet can be a beast sometimes, but with these XO horns, I really look forward to practicing and performing with a whole new outlook.
