Lance LaDuke (1967-2023) was internationally renowned as a performer, educator, creator, and speaker. His 32-year career as a professional musician saw him perform in all 50 states as well as in dozens of countries around the world including the Soviet Union, Brazil, and Singapore. During that time he was a member of Boston Brass, the United States Air Force Concert Band in Washington, DC, and the River City Brass Band. Lance also appeared with countless other ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Brass Band of Battle Creek. In addition to playing euphonium, he played trombone, ukulele, and loved to sing. His teaching included positions at Duquesne University and Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught business, marketing, and communications (as part of the CMU Music Entrepreneurship Program) as well as euphonium. He was also an artist-in-resident and/or taught masterclasses at some of the world’s finest conservatories including Juilliard, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Lance was a founder of Pedal Note Media and a longtime co-host of The Brass Junkies, a podcast featuring conversations with some of the best brass players in the world. He maintained an active speaking career, sharing his thoughts on entrepreneurship, practicing, leadership, and self-development and was the author of Music Practice Coach: Five Workouts for Getting the Most out of Your Practice Time!
