Matt Owen, founder of Electrobrass and Eclectic Tuba, is a leading innovator in electronic music for wind instruments. He has harnessed and combined influences and compositional techniques from almost every direction of music to create an absolutely unique take on tuba performance. He often loops and manipulates the sound of the instrument, playing solos that sound like they were imported straight from outer space. Performing 250+ shows yearly, Matt exerts extremely positive energy and touches the ears of audiences across the country and often refuses to exit the stage until a dance party occurs. Matt is also active in the pop world, having collaborated with greats such as Junior Marvin (Bob Marley and The Wailers), Wayne Coyne (The Flaming Lips), Kliph Scurlock (The Flaming Lips), Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls), Andy Frasco, The Polyphonic Spree, New Fumes, Roy Agee (Prince), and many more! Matt is also a member of the 129th Army Band and has been a Tuba Instructor with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps since 2017.
