Picking up the trombone at age 11 under the guidance of illustrious trombonist Paul Mckee, Sam Keedy has cemented himself as a distinguished artist of his generation both as a solo trombonist and accomplished writer/arranger. Throughout his brief yet storied career Sam has traveled all over the world, performing/recording at notable venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Tokyo TUC Jazz Club, Abbey Road, Dimitrou’s Jazz Alley, The Baked Potato, Dazzle Denver, Monterey Jazz Festival, Vail and Telluride Jazz festivals among many many more. After graduating high school in Denver Colorado, Keedy now attends the prestigious Frost School of Music at the University of Miami where he works with Grammy winning musicians such as Maria Schneider, Brian Lynch, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, John Daversa, Dafnis Prieto, Carlos Rafael Rivera, as well as other notable teachers like Etienne Charles, Gary Keller, Dante Luciani, and Stephen Guerra. Since living in Miami Florida Sam has shared the stage with preeminent musicians the likes of Marcus Strickland, Regina Carter, Ari Hoenig, Chucho Valdes, Anat Cohen, Elliot Mason, Norma Winstone, Vince Mendoza, Ingrid Jensen, Derrick Hodge, along with countless others. Keedy continues to perform, write, and teach in Miami Florida - working with his own large and small groups as well as lead trombonist for the Henry Mancini Institute and Etienne Charles Creole Orchestra among other notable ensembles.
